How to measure
Measuring Guide
Male thread OD
- Use vernier calipers across the thread crests (the peaks).
- Measure at the full-diameter end of the thread, not the tapered tip.
- Enter the reading in mm — a 1/2" BSP male measures about 20.9 mm.
Female thread ID
- Use the inside jaws of your calipers.
- Measure across the thread crests inside the port (smallest diameter).
- Select "Female" — we allow for thread depth automatically.
Threads per inch / pitch
- Best: hold a thread pitch gauge against the thread until it sits with no gaps.
- No gauge? Lay a ruler along the thread and count crests over 25.4 mm (1").
- Metric pitch = distance in mm between two crests.
Hose ID
- Cut the hose end square.
- Measure the inside bore, not the outside wall.
- Hose tails and camlock C/E fittings match the hose ID.
Camlock adaptor OD
- Take the male (Type A, B, D or F) adaptor.
- Measure across the front lip that slides into the coupler — ahead of the groove.
- e.g. about 63 mm = 2" camlock.
Flange PCD & bolt holes
- Count the bolt holes.
- Even number of holes: measure centre-to-centre across two opposite holes = PCD.
- Shortcut: edge of one hole to the far edge of the opposite hole, minus one hole diameter.
- Also measure the flange OD.
Pipe OD
- Measure across the outside of the pipe with calipers.
- Or wrap a tape round it and divide the circumference by 3.1416.
- Enter the OD — e.g. 60.3 mm = 50 NB (2").
